The aim of Beleaguered Castle Solitaire is to build 4 foundation piles up by suit. Initially all cards are dealt to the tableau piles. In some variants, foundation piles are also dealt the starting card. Only top card of a tableau pile is available for play to another tableau pile or, a foundation pile.
This game contains following variants of the classic Beleaguered Castle Solitaire.
Beleaguered Castle: 4 Aces are removed and dealt to the 4 foundation piles. 8 tableau piles with 6 cards in each pile. Tableau piles can be built down regardless of suit. Empty tableau pile can be filled with any card.
Citadel: 4 Aces are removed and dealt to the 4 foundation piles. 8 tableau piles with 6 cards in each pile. When dealing cards to the tableau, cards which can be played to the foundations are played. Tableau piles can be built down regardless of suit. Empty tableau pile can be filled with any card.
Exiled Kings: All rules are similar to Citadel with one exception. Empty tableau pile can only be filled with a King.
Fortress: 10 tableau piles (2 piles with 6 cards and 8 piles with 5 cards each). Foundation piles start with an Ace as Aces become available. Tableau piles can be built up or down by suit. Empty tableau pile can be filled with any card.
Streets and Alleys: 8 tableau piles with 4 piles with 6 cards and 4 piles with 7 cards each. Foundation piles start with an Ace as Aces become available. Tableau piles can be built down regardless of suit. Empty tableau pile can be filled with any card.
Chessboard: 10 tableau piles (2 piles with 6 cards and 8 piles with 5 cards each). Player chooses rank of his/her foundation at the beginning. Other foundation piles must start with the same rank. Tableau piles can be built up or down by suit. Empty tableau pile can be filled with any card. Cards in the tableau or foundation piles wrap from King to Ace or, Ace to King wherever applicable.
